Billion Trees Tsunami

Billion Trees Tsunami

Tree planting is recognized as one of the most engaging, environment-friendly activities to better the planet. Trees provide so many benefits to our everyday lives. They filter clean air, provide fresh drinking water, help curb climate change and create homes for thousands of species of plants and animals.

Pakistan is at 4th rank among the country that has planted the most trees. Tree’s plantation has a multitude of benefits in the short as well as long term. Trees enhance air quality and improve the urban heat island effect by reflecting sunlight and providing shade. Planting trees can slow down heavy rain and so reduce the risk of flooding.

Trees exhale for us so that we can inhale them to stay alive.

The present government has aimed to plant 10 bn. Trees across the country during their 5 years tenure.

Pakistan is one of the countries most vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Pakistan is also believed to have one of the highest deforestation rates in the world, and even as we plant new trees, there must be efforts to protect old and indigenous trees from being chopped down.

Save the Earth from deforestation.

To revive forests and wildlife resources in Pakistan they need the time to promote the scheme of Billion Tree Tsunami. The fight against Global warming and poverty are the same issue. This project started from KPK Province and now the government is planning it in Punjab.

The environmental problems in Pakistan are worsened by its large population. Planting a billion trees can help us curb the effects of heat. It is a big number, but we know we can achieve it. Being on the 5th number population-wise, we expect to be heavily affected by climate change and might face greater food and water insecurity.

This project has many positive impacts on mental health and well-being, reducing stress, aggression, and violence, also encouraging outdoor exercise. This is really something that can make nature an ally to solve the issues we have with nature. We should plan urban forests with urbanization being a leading cause behind environmental pollution across the world, the need to plant more urban forests is higher than ever.

According to WWF Audit, the project plan is a success and a great contribution towards global warming.
