Prime Minister Imran Khan went to Lahore on Friday, 7th August 2020 to inaugurate the Riverfront project alongside Ravi River.
Federal Ministers Shibli Faraz, Shafqat Mehmood, Hammad Azhar, Advisor Shahzad Akbar, and Chairman Naya Pakistan Housing Society Anwar Ali also attended the launching ceremony and praised the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project, inaugurated by PM Imran Khan.
PM announced the Project and opportunities linked with it.
With this initiative, a city based on modern themes, spreading over 100,000 acres is to be developed near Lahore alongside River Ravi, addressing the wider issues of the province and the country.
Ravi Development Authority (RDA) scheme that is worth 5 trillion would also address issues like unplanned settlements, water problems, traffic jamming, and environmental pollution.
Imran Khan said that this project shall also serve the underprivileged areas of the society, improve the health sector, and give a boost to the education sector, etc.
PM said this project shall not only help the construction and the real estate industry but also 40 other industries linked with it.
The project spread over hundreds of acres would have commercial, residential, and industrial zones to facilitate the people and to develop the city based on Dubai like a city.
PM also stated that releasing extra water in the river shall reduce water pollution. After setting up the sewerage system, the river water shall be treated for the stipulation of clean water. Furthermore, he added that if it is not to be started now, Lahore will have the same water issues that Karachi is facing right now. So, in order to save our cities from basic issues like drinking water crisis, we have to take such bold steps.
He added that Lahore was a beautiful city that now has become the most polluted area. The point is, Lahore has changed dramatically, he said and we have to save the glory of our prestigious cities and the nation.
PM stated that the riverfront project will be an exciting opportunity for the investors too; foreign investors would also invest there. The project will be a big step forward for the nation.
The population rate is increasing rapidly, if we are to save Lahore, the project of developing a new city is unavoidable, said PM Imran Khan in the launching ceremony of the RRUDP.
Around six billion trees would be planted to reduce environmental pollution. A separate forest area would be developed in the city that will help nature grow and the city glow.
In a separate meeting with CM Usman Buzdar, PM advised to speed up the project and have the work done efficiently. The law minister was also asked to introduce valuable legislation to accelerate the development process in the province.
The project shall not only open the ways for employment but also help the country prosper by leaps and bounds as the city is to be developed on modern themes. This project is going to be a great deal for investors. The riverfront project shall not only boost the economy but also make the country grow in a better way.
